| If you are to provide a personal letter of recommendation
for someone, it is important that you plan it carefully and provide
the information in a well structured way. We have provided an example

When providing a personal reference letter, there are some key

When writing a personal letter of recommendation for a friend or relative,
you are normally attempting to verify they are of sound character, and
they have good personal qualities. These aspects being described might
include the following:
- Are they reliable and do they do what they say they will do?
- Are they considerate by nature, and not self obsessed? Do they think
of others?
- Are they honest and trustworthy, as far as you can tell?
- Do they show good judgement in difficult situations?
- Do you consider them to be intelligent and thoughtful?
- Have they shown they can stick with a task until it is completed?

When writing a personal letter of recommendation for a tradesman or service
provider, you are normally attempting to verify they are reliable workers
who produce top quality workmanship at a fair price. The letter of recommendation
would include some of the features listed above which confirm their good
character. It would also include your thoughts on the quality of their
work and the way they do business. These aspects might include the following:
- Was their work good? Did they create a quality product or provide
a quality service?
- Was their method of working clean and tidy? Did they clean up at the
end of the day? Were their office practices efficient and accurate?
- Did they provide good value for money?
- Were they consistent in charging what they quoted?
- Was their work completed on time and within budget?
